JD.com has signed a contract to partner up with the British Fashion Council for three years. JD.com is the largest online retailer in China. The company is also known as Jindong.

JD.com History

Jd.com is a Chinese company that deals with e-commerce. The company’s headquarters are based in Beijing China. It is the leading online retailer in China and the biggest online based revenue generator in the country and the world’s leading in AI delivery using drones as well as autonomous robots.

JD.com has the world biggest and fastest delivery system that uses robots and drones. The name was adopted in 2013 although the company has seen a long transition since its launching in 1998 when it was an offline retailer of electronics. Currently, JD.com operations cover almost 99% of the whole country with smart centres in different cities such as Shaanxi and Jiangyin.

Its delivery system covers a vast range of products, from cosmetics to fresh food products and electronics.

JD.com’s Partnership with BFC

The strategic partnership will run for three years and will include JD.com’s support to the events and on-schedule designers at both LFW (London Fashion Week) and LFWM (London Fashion Week Men’s). Under the partnership, JD.com is to be exclusively the London fashion week’s Chinese retailer. The main focus has been established as the creation of a global platform for all players in the fashion industry such as designers, brands as well as investors.

The agreement also aims to introduce the international and British brands to the Chinese market and also to open up the Chinese brands into the global market, by exposing them to internationally acclaimed designers.

Expected outcomes of the partnership

British fashion council’s CEO, Carol Rush stated that JD.com is considered to be a trustworthy partner of BFC and that the agreement aims to empower young new designers, simplify their collaboration and exchange of ideas in both China and Britain. Victor Ho. JD.coms’s Fashion and Style President stated that he believes fashion has no bounds and JD.com aims to build bridges between the international and Chinese fashion culture and to bring both cultures together.
