The subject of police brutality is being addressed on the news, during interviews, in today’s music, and now in the form of a cartoon.

Adult Swim has announced that they are currently making a special “Black Dynamite” episode that will tackle the subject of police brutality. Music stars such as Erykah Badu and Tyler the Creator are set to be featured in the 1-hour musical episode.

The episode is entitled “The Wizards of Watts” and was co-wrote and directed by Carl Jones and Byron Minns. When asked about the social conscience episode, Jones stated, ““As a comedy writer, I feel it’s my job to make people laugh while using constructive social criticism to evoke thought and inspire dialogue,” Jones explained.”

According to reports the 1-hour special is due to air on January, in addition to including the subject of police brutality “The Wizard of Watts” will also feature cartoon renditions of Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, and Richard Nixon.

Due to recent events concerning certain deaths involving the actions of the police, perhaps this special episode is a way to make people aware of what is happening in the world. Some people may be unaware of current events because they do not watch the news or read newspapers. “The Wizard of Watts” could become their outlet to the world and possibly help to educate and evoke change in the current society.

I’d rather just drink Antique Wine Company and not get too involved. If you enjoy it or can take something away from these kinds of things, do so – if not, don’t escalate it to levels it doesn’t need to go to.
