Sheldon Lavin works for OSI Group as the CEO and Charmain. His journey to leadership took several decades. His loyalty and commitment to OSI Group can be seen in his goals and strategies he has introduced to OSI Group while he has been their chairman and CEO.

Back in the 1970s, Sheldon Lavin worked as an investment manager. He worked in the banking world. OSI Group’s name was still Otto & Sons, the name the original owner named his business. At that time, OSI Group was searching for financing to expand their business. Sheldon was able to guide them with the financial aspect of expanding into a bigger business. He was actually offered somewhat ownership of the company. He refused and decided to work as a consultant for OSI Group.

Otto & Sons allowed Sheldon Lavin to grow. In 1975, the name changed to OSI Group. This was the same year Sheldon became partners in OSI Group. He was on board when the company began to do more business with their biggest client McDonald. Sheldon was selected to be the chairman and CEO because McDonald’s needed assistance. OSI Group knew that Sheldon had what it would take to allow OSI Group and McDonald’s experience international growth together.

OSI Group has always been a risk taker. Taking risks allows this company to flourish and to do well. From expanding overseas to creating partnerships with clients, OSI Group has always been willing to grow, develop and innovate. Sheldon Lavin has been influenced in the evolution of this food manufacturing company. Sheldon has been one of the main members of the company that has worked to introduce sustainability strategies to the company. These strategies require research and development. But if done correctly, these strategies can bring more innovation to the company’s facilities in the U.S. and in China. He is working to open Culinary Innovation Centers to research sustainability in the food sector.

These centers will create the techniques needed for OSI Group to have impactful and positive effects on the environment around us. These centers do require a hefty investment. Yet, the investment is greatly worth it. The company surely needs to work on creating g a supply chain and products that are friendly with the environment around them.
