JetSmarter is an app which makes chartered private jet easier to book and overall cheaper for customers. As of now, the company is serving more than 400,000 registered users. This idea was created by Sergey Petrossov, who is included in Forbe’s list of Under 30 promising entrepreneurs of 2016. In addition, he was also one of South Florida’s Top Working Professionals. During one of his interviews, Petrossov tells more about JetSmarter and how it all started.

According to Sergey Petrossov, the idea for JetSmarter was formed in 2009 when he realized that an average plane was only able to fly 200 hours a year even though it can fly close to 1,200 hours. In addition, Petrossov thought that if he can make use of the idle time by seats, the cost of traveling through the plane would be even more affordable. This means that a customer who wants to experience flying on a private plane without breaking the bank would be able to do so.

Petrossov also thought about the traveling experience. Like-minded travelers such as businessmen will be able to meet new people in their field or new prospect investors. This could make the experience a lot better for the passengers. As of now, JetSmarter offers $15,000 as membership for people who want to experience their program. Petrossov and his team have been brainstorming of ways to lower the price. JetSmarter currently connects to 3,200 airplanes from 172 different countries. With their coverage, customers can fly anywhere around the world, as long as it is not a sanctioned country or a war zone.

As of now, JetSmarter operates in a lot of states, including New York and New Jersey. According to Petrossov, the most prominent private aviation airport right now in New York City is the Teterboro and Westchester County. If the customers decided to create their own flights, they can choose to fly on the airport which is closest to their location. JetSmarter can use the private terminal in commercial airports, which makes it more convenient. Petrossov compared JetSmarter to Uber, but one operating in the air. He is hoping that JetSmarter will be the largest private aviation company by 2020.
