Reggie Wayne Will Not Return to Colts

The free agency period in the NFL hasn’t officially hit yet but many teams have already made some drastic movies. As fans like Marcio Alaor BMG know, the latest of these moves comes from the Colts in the form of wide receiver Reggie Wayne.

On Friday, it was announced that the veteran wide receiver Reggie Wayne will not return to the Colts for the 2015 season and decided he should play elsewhere. This news comes after learning that Patriots nose tackle Vince Wilfork wasn’t picked up by his teams and running back Maurice Jones-Drew had announced his retirement from the game the day before.

Wayne was drafted by the Colts in 2001 and currently ranks second in the Colts franchise history in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. Only Marvin Harrison ranks higher than him in the franchise, a player who was previously the number one receiver on the offense before his retirement. In fact he leads the entire league in terms of receiving yards and receptions as an active player.

Wayne didn’t start out as a go-to receiver immediately but had a terrific breakout year in 2004, where he began his streak of having seven consecutive 1,000 yard receiving seasons with Peyton Manning as his quarterback. Furthermore, Wayne was selected to 6 Pro Bowls and even won a Super Bowl in 2006.

With Wayne gone, T.Y. Hilton may be the top receiver.
