The first ever International Online Friendship Day has been celebrated around the world and in celebration Skout has released the results of a global friendship survey that polled more than 52,000 of their members. Skout, an app platform allowing people to safely and easily connect, revealed highlights of this global survey in a recent PR Newswire article published on February 4th.

Among the surprises revealed by Skout is that people are more honest with their online friends; over 60% of users surveyed said they’re more open with friends online than with friends they see in person. Skout has also published their survey results for the 10 friendliest cities in the United States which can be viewed on Skout’s blog. Christian Wiklund, co-founder and CEO of Skout, weighed in on how he sees friendships around the world changing as technology becomes more ubiquitous. “Technology is making it increasingly easy to make new friends anytime, anywhere,” he says, “which explains why more and more friendships are starting and flourishing through our digital platform.”

Backed by Andreessen Horowitz and headquartered in San Francisco, Skout is the largest global platform for meeting new people and expanding your social circle. Founded in 2007, the Skout platform spans more than 180 countries and 14 languages.
